Lisa’s Struggle with Chronic Knee Pain

Lisa (not her real name) had always been active, and she especially loved hiking. Unfortunately, she had been struggling with persistent knee pain since her mid-40s. We explained to Lisa that BFR would allow her to perform low-resistance exercises while still gaining the benefits of high-intensity training. The process was simple:

  • A specialized cuff was placed around her upper thigh to partially restrict blood flow.
  • She performed controlled, low-load exercises such as leg raises and step-ups.
  • The therapy sessions were short, lasting about 15-20 minutes.
  • Her therapist monitored her closely to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Lisa was surprised at how manageable the exercises felt. Even though she was lifting lighter weights than she was used to, her muscles worked harder due to the reduced oxygen supply. Over time, she noticed her endurance improving.
